Marilee H. Brown, J.D.
As a former assistant district attorney, Marilee Hazel Brown provides clients broad expertise in the legal process and a depth of trial experience when cases cannot be resolved outside the courtroom. She makes a difference by looking beyond the ordinary to find creative solutions that work to the best interests of her clients.
For the past four years, Ms. Brown has built a family law practice that has helped hundreds of clients successfully resolve high-conflict family disputes. The firm's criminal practice is also thriving, as Ms. Brown and her staff work closely with clients to ensure that their rights are zealously protected when facing state charges. Additionally, Ms. Brown has successfully represented clients in probate matters and multiple areas of civil litigation.
Prior to being in private practice, Ms. Brown was a highly productive felony prosecutor and chief misdemeanor prosecutor in Lamar County, Texas. Ms. Brown led all aspects of legal proceedings related to felony and misdemeanor charges. In addition, she was the county’s principal juvenile attorney in cases ranging from class B misdemeanors to first degree felonies. She holds a law degree from Texas Tech University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Government from The University of Texas at Austin.
Ms. Brown has argued cases before the Sixth Court of Appeals, including a nationally debated case in which Ms. Brown’s prosecution was argued and upheld at the Texas Supreme Court. In her appellate practice she has also represented clients before the Third and Thirteenth Courts of Appeal in Texas. Her writings on DWI law and evidence have been published in the Texas District and County Attorneys Association magazine. Her writings on business torts have been published in the Texas State Bar's Business Litigation Journal. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and the Comal County Bar Association.
